Parkway Village is a predominantly black community in southeast Memphis, Tennessee. Parkway Village is bounded by Getwell/New Getwell Road on the West, Shelby Drive on the South, I-240 on the North, and Mendenhall Road on the East. Parkway Village is the home of the Perkins and American Way shopping center, Nash Buckingham Park, and the former Mall of Memphis (nicknamed by residents the "Mall of Murder").
During the 1950s-1980s, Parkway Village was a quiet community with no crime and well kept neighborhoods. During the 1990s, Parkway Village was affected by crime pushing in from Oakville and the airport area.
Though the area is in revival, there is still a high crime rate.
Lord Infamous of the rap group Three 6 Mafia comes from the neighborhood.
